Aelin 55b87766a6 linux-postmarketos-qcom-sc7280: Add co-maintainers, pass kconfigcheck
As discussed with Luca, Federico and me are maintainers of other devices using
the kernel package (Nothing Phone 1, Radxa Dragon Q6A, RUBIK Pi 3) and would
like to help maintain the kernel package in pmaports.

While we're at it, update the kernel configuration to pass kconfigcheck
again.

Oliver Smith cb6f7f0ef1 device-clockworkpi-uconsole-rpi: depend on gcc
Fix that building this package fails with:
ccache: error: Could not find compiler "aarch64-alpine-linux-musl-gcc" in PATH

dtc tries to call gcc, so we must add it to the makedepends. It doesn't
seem possible to use clang instead with dtc, and even if, let's get the
package building with GCC first to unblock the queue in BPO and then
look into doing that.

This has probably worked in the past because pmbootstrap used to
pre-install more dependencies in the past during builds and this package
hasn't been built in a long time.

Clayton Craft 71c5137654 systemd/dbus-broker: skip tests on all archs except x86_64
Some tests under qemu take >10minutes each and time out. x86_64 is the
only arch that's native in gitlab CI AND bpo, so only run tests if on
that arch.

Aelin 4997cbff8c main/hexagonfs-firmware-loader: drop
Back in the days, hexagonrpcd was not suitable for generic device
packages and we had to hack around it with this service / script. Now
that hexagonrpcd can guess the HexagonFS directory location at runtime,
we can and should get rid of this service to align with our (future)
firmware packaging guidelines.

This enables launcher support so that dbus-broker can run dbus services
via systemd units (either packaged units, or as a transient unit). The
benefit of doing this is that we no longer have to use a setuid binary
(dbus-daemon-launch-helper).

Achill Gilgenast 08c2bc39df temp/mbwl: use wlroots0.18
Removed wlroots0.17 in https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/commit/8b739ef72ca7fee5c75b0d4effa465b142a4ae50

Ideally this would use the latest stable wlroots version which is 0.20
already (and live in Alpine), but looking at
https://codeberg.org/mediaberry/mbwl/issues/2, we can consider mbwl a
short-term solution anyway.

Scott C a204d8e335 linux-postmarketos-omap: barnesnoble-encore: Add pinctrls, update panel section, enable touchscreen, wifi, poweroff, and more
Get touchscreen going by using correct hex value as i2c address

Update display panel / DSS sections:
- Add comment to 'dss' section to explain need for a kernel configuration setting
which in an ideal world could be set in devicetree
- Set rotation property, panel-timing values, and comment on panel section in mcspi4

Set pinctrl entries for the device:
- Entries initially based on older u-boot and kernel board files and code, then
  revised based on similar devices
- Add pinctrl values in &omap3_pmx_core and &omap3_pmx_core2 sections
- add pinctrl-names and pinctrl-0 entries for most devices

Start to get sound card / codec set up, although not working yet:
- Set correct codec compatible entry.
  Device uses 'ti,tlv320dac3100', not 'ti,tlv320aic310x'
- Attempt to set sys_clkout2 clock for audio codec, but this is not working yet
- Add 'simple-audio-card' section
- Add &mcbsp2 section
- Add two regulators

Enable/ revise wifi section (mmc3 -> wifi)

Add vaux2 regulator section, used by mmc3/wifi
- Other devices have more comprehensive entries for the vmmc-supply and
vqmmc-supply values for wifi which should likely be used for this device as
  well, but not implemented yet.

Allow device to actually turn off by setting system-power-controller property on
twl4030
- Add power ("ti,twl4030-power-idle-osc-off") section in twl, this seems to set
  suspend/low power commands

Add/ update some items based on similar devices, such as:
- hfclk_26m - set on twl4030
- vpll2 - set regulator to always-on, supposedly for dss/dpi

Set some unused components as disabled: gpmc, mcspi1, mcspi2, mcspi3, uart3, uart4
- uart2 is disabled since bluetooth hasn't been tested. Device does not have
  antenna for bluetooth

Many smaller updates:
- add pclk-sample property to lvds-encoder
- Correct accelerometer mount-matrix
- Set max8903_charger as power-supply for max17042 fuel gauge
- corrected touchscreen-size-.. properties to match 'native' orientation
- Add manufacturer model number to model string
- Revise max8903_charger section/ comments

Clayton Craft d2ad485b51 systemd/systemd: disable BPF
Not all kernels have CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_BTF=y, which means we can hit a
deadlock on boot if this is enabled. I haven't seen or heard of anyone
hitting this on mutable pmOS, since /boot is IIRC mounted via fstab,
but this is hit in Duranium where /boot is mounted on-demand via a
boot.automount unit

Since CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO_BTF isn't enabled broadly, enabling BPF support
in systemd probably doesn't make any sense for now?

This also adds some helper functions to finding dlopened dependencies.
They're printed out during package(), and useful for figuring out which
packages to depend on when adding dependencies manually to the APKBUILD.
They're also quite gross (e.g. invoking apk) so it's commented out by

there have been many MRs and issues filed to the repo that see no action.
One major MR, that being a hardening patch against rowhammer attacks,
has layed stale since 03-03-2024. After Natanael Copa asked if the repo
was still maintained, the response was that it is low-priority.

As such switching to sudo-rs, despite its larger size and attack surface, makes
sense due to more users and thus more eyes on it performing analysis and fixing
security issues quicker. OpenBSD doas does not have this itself, and a low-usage
fork of it definitely does not. While there are snazzier, more modern
alternatives like run0, capsudo, or s6-sudo, none of these are in a state where
they can fully replace all the features that sudo provides.

sudo-rs was chosen over the original sudo due to a few factors. The first is
memory safety, as Rust generally solves that issue in the codebase, so a whole
class of possible vulns are eliminated. Second is that sudo-rs is already in
use by larger distributions like Canonical's Ubuntu, meaning that the user base
is already quite large, leading to similar amounts of eyes on the source code.
Third, sudo-rs has had support from the original authors of sudo, allowing the
project to avoid the pitfalls of the legacy C codebase. Finally, sudo-rs has
already had two fairly recent independent security audits, meaning that their
security posture is diligent enough to be trusted.

See https://github.com/trifectatechfoundation/sudo-rs/tree/main/docs/audit

In the future, any further switch in the privilege-escalation tool should keep
the sudo command, be it through a symlink, shim, or a binary itself. This is
maintained currently due to having installed doas-sudo-shim by default, but
more care should be taken in the future to not break user workflows.

Federico Amedeo Izzo 25b69f8ce3 firmware-nothing-spacewar: Change hexagonfs files path to fix bootloop.
The bootloop on spacewar was caused by ADSP crash due to hexagonfs files
being installed in the wrong path ("nothing" instead of "Nothing").
The path is derived by hexagonfs based on dts properties, we should
match that.

Additionally this makes sensors work on the phone.

Add firmware packaging guidelines to the documentation. The goal behind
this was to make it so that it is very clear which packaging method is
preferred for which cases to avoid fragmentation and inconsistency in

Aelin ab005ffc19 linux-postmarketos-mainline: Temporarily patch for LLVM-only build on ppc64le
The PowerPC boot wrapper script in Linux currently requires a GNU
cross toolchain in PATH. This went unnoticed because we currently always
install GCC for native builds, but since recently only install a cross
GCC toolchain if clang is not used to build.

Indeed, we want to only build the kernel with clang and LLVM binutils.
There has been some discussion around fixing this in the past, and
Nathan Chancellor has written some patches that do fix it, but has
apparently not submitted them because the VDSO may require further
changes. I've followed up on the mailing list and asked about the
possibility to submit the patches without reworking the VDSO, since it
fixes this particular usecase nonetheless.

I've also considered installing the cross GCC package in the APKBUILD,
but that's not possible because pmbootstrap cannot evaluate conditional
dependencies. As it stands, we *need* to patch the kernel to get it
building, or revert the pmbootstrap patch, which I really want to avoid.
I'll do my best to get these patches integrated upstream.

[ci:skip-vercheck]: let's not rebuild all the architectures when we're
only touching ppc64le that isn't building in BPO

Clayton Craft 0f0b8ceaa2 main/postmarketos-zram: override vm.min_free_kbytes if >= 1GB RAM
Without a sufficient vm.min_free_kbytes value, the kernel may not start
reclaiming memory early enough to make use of zram swap before the
kernel OOM killer fires. Set a minimum of 100000 KB on devices with >=
1GB of RAM where the kernel's calculated value is lower.

This ignores devices with <1GB of RAM, because I think with so little
RAM isn't unlikely to really matter and if we set this too high then we
risk insta-OOMs.

Clayton Craft b383547b54 systemd/postmarketos-base-systemd: lower system limit for journald
This sets the max disk space used by journald logs to 1GB (systemd
default is 4GB). This seems like a good trade-off between having access
to more older logs in case there are transient issues that need debug
or we need to understand system behavior long term, and not filling too much
space on devices with little storage.

If a device is really constrained for space, the device package
can ship an override file in journald.conf.d to lower this limit
even further. Users/system admins can also override this value in
/etc/systemd/journald.conf.d.

Oliver Smith 61382834c1 main/postmarketos-ui-phosh: recommend phosh-tour
Put phosh-tour in pmb_recommends instead of having postmarketos-welcome
indirectly installed by default through
postmarketos-base-ui-gnome-mobile. In order to do that, move
postmarketos-welcome from the pmb_recommends of
postmarketos-base-ui-gnome-mobile to postmarketos-ui-gnome-mobile.

The reasons for that is that the postmarketos-welcome app by now has
in part incomplete and outdated explanations about how phosh shall be
used. For example, a common question that we don't answer but phosh-tour
does is how the keyboard can be launched from any app.

The postmarketos-welcome app warns more about that this is an
experimental system, but that is prominently displayed on our homepage
when trying to download images. Otherwise it also doesn't contain much
information that makes it worth keeping instead of phosh-tour.

Finally phosh upstrem has also said that they would be willing to have
distro-specific tour pages, so if we notice that something would be
really good to have there in the long run, we could look into getting it
in phosh-tour.

Eric Anderson a7cfc24c34 device-asus-flo: Fix cmdline bootloader workaround
The flo bootloader discards the first 26 characters of the kernel
cmdline. The conversion to the new kernel cmdline configuration in !7830
now causes "quiet" from 00-base.conf to be prefied before the xxxxx
padding workaround, which caused the effective cmdline to begin
"xxxxxxconsole=ttyMSM0,115200,n8" (quiet discarded, and console no
longer would parse). Putting the xxxxx workaround in a file that sorts
before 00-base.conf causes the intended characters to be discarded.

The number of xxx's changed from 26 to 25 because now there will be a
space following the string.

glats 348a61895f postmarketos-initramfs: load loop module before mount_subpartitions on combined initramfs
On devices using a combined initramfs, init_2nd.sh is exec'd directly
from the first stage without ever calling load_modules(). This means the
loop kernel module (CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP=m) is not guaranteed to be
loaded before mount_subpartitions() runs, causing losetup to fail:

losetup: /dev/sda13: failed to set up loop device: No such file or directory
  ERROR: failed to mount subpartitions!

On the split initramfs path (init.sh), load_modules is called explicitly
before jumping to init_2nd.sh, so this regression did not affect those
devices.

Fix by explicitly loading the loop module in mount_subpartitions(),
right before the loop that searches for partitions. This location was
suggested by Clayton Craft.

Regression introduced by: 86bdb82116 (use loop device for subpartitions)
Tested on: oneplus-cheeseburger (combined initramfs, msm8998, loop=m)

Scott C 39dc15dc4a linux-postmarketos-omap: panel-lg-ld070ws1: Mode, Orientation, Devicetree Updates, Many Cleanups
Many updates made throughout to bring this driver from the rough initial state
previously committed to something much more comprehensive and correct/ final.

Make various updates to allow setting the panel mode from the device tree:

- add functionality to be able to read a display mode / panel-timing from the
  device tree
  - wanted to add this to make explicit that nook color requires building
kernel with a certain dss flag/value set also requiring
that pixel clock to be <= functional clock / 4
- make bus_flags in device tree fail probe
- Allow setting panel orientation

Update spi init function to modernize bit handling and remove older redundant function

Facilitate apparent need for min FCK / PCK = 4 with Barnes & Noble Encore / Nook Color

- switch the default display mode to match the apparent
need for min FCK / PCK = 4 with Barnes & Noble Encore / Nook Color
- tweak the modes array and remove the sizing since that is actually set elsewhere

Clean-Up All Over:

- Clean up logging to hopefully be close to kernel norms/ standards.
  - Driver now only generates logs when probe completes and when panel
    is powered off / on.
  - Some additional logging is generated when debug is enabled.
- Remove extra/unnecessary code from enable function that was added when
  initially developing
- Remove commented code and updated formatting
- Tweake mode names to not include @ sign
- remove some likely unnecessary bus flags

Clayton Craft 86bdb82116 main/postmarketos-initramfs: use loop device for subpartitions
This reworks the subpartition init to use loop devices instead of
kpartx/dm mappings. This allows us to use the same logic for resizing
as we do for other partitioning schemes (and refactors that code a bit).
This also helps duranium, because systemd tooling (repart, sysupdate,
gpt-auto-generator) can't properly handle GPT subpartitions exposed via
kpartx dm mappings, but works correctly with loop devices created with
partition scanning enabled.

After this change, subpartitions show up as loop devices, e.g.:

$ ls /dev/loop*
/dev/loop0p1
/dev/loop0p2

There *should* be no impact to existing installs.

This also drops the dependency on multipath-tools, which seems to have
been added years ago as a workaround for installing kpartx (like maybe
multipath-tools used to provide kpartx?), see 7573f5fce4. Anyways, we
don't use anything in this pkg in the initramfs AFAIK.

Currently, even if dint fails for some reason, the documentation

Clayton Craft 5dea9f8b16 device-google-sargo: add support for u-boot
This allows booting pmOS from u-boot on existing and new installs.

Setting the boot partition to vfat isn't strictly necessary (ext2 seems
to work OK), but IIUC either FAT is in the EFI spec or it's what
everyone else uses. We made a similar patch to the OP6/OP6T previously.

Aelin bebe107f52 kconfigcheck: Only require zstd module (de)compression on 6.2 or newer
The in-kernel zstd module decompression exists since kernel 6.2 [1], so
in order to accomodate split initramfs devices, we can only safely
require zstd module compression and decompression on 6.2 or newer.
