Caleb Connolly db18bf5de3 main/postmarketos-initramfs: fixup device-mapper paths
findfs might produce a block device path like /dev/dm-3, these can
change across boots and devices. Make things more readable and
consistent by mapping from the /dev/dm-* path to the equivalent
/dev/mapper/xyz path. Combined with invoking kpartx from a
/dev/disk/by-partlabel/abc symlink, this results in the final block
device having a name like /dev/mapper/userdata2 on an Android device.

Whilst this is just nicer to work with, this will be especially useful for
the upcoming ondev2 postmarketOS installer to make device-specific
configuration and detection easier.

Caleb Connolly f71ef9f787 main/postmarketos-initramfs: optimise find_*_partition
Save the root/boot partition paths once found, and optimise a few loops.

Caleb Connolly a7d92d9f8b main/postmarketos-initramfs: optimise mount_subpartitions
Drop in mdev.conf and the /lib/mdev/persistent-storage script, these
cause /dev/disk/by-* to be populated in the ramdisk (!!), making it
possible to do look up partition by-label and by-partlabel for free,
compared to findfs which can take some time.

As a first optimisation based on this, check for some partitions using
these paths and prioritise them when looking for subpartitions. Drop the
first find_boot_partition call as it doesn't really save time over the
call in the while loop.
2023-07-02 00:54:19 +01:00
Caleb Connolly 468cbbe102 main/postmarketos-initramfs: rework logging
Make logs always go to kmsg, so that if you have a console configured
then you'll always be able to see the init script output. The
behaviour of PMOS_NO_OUTPUT_REDIRECT is adjusted so that it just
decides whether or not openrc will log to the console or not.

The original stdout/stderr fds are preserved and later restored, this is
important for debug-shell to run on the TTY.

Caleb Connolly 416b90dc61 main/postmarketos-initramfs: silence pbsplash 2023-07-02 00:54:19 +01:00
Caleb Connolly 590d339717 main/postmarketos-mkinitfs-hook-debug-shell: reconfigure logging
It's necessary to reconfigure the stdout/stderr streams before spawning
the debug shell, so that it will correctly launch a getty on the serial
console if available.

Luca Weiss 4b84be3d62 main/postmarketos-initramfs: switch_root with /dev (MR 3230)
Mount /dev (and /run) in initramfs so util-linux switch_root can move
the mounts over to the new sysroot before changing root.
BusyBox switch_root doesn't even attempt to move anything so use
util-linux's switch_root for this.

Explicitly disable tests too...

Subject: [PATCH] Revert "PR25882, .gnu.attributes are not checked for shared
libraries"
This revert is needed to avoid wrongly tagging objects with the incompatible
IBM long double ABI, which is not supported by musl and will result in
linking errors if used.
This reverts commit a8acd6eeb6dc2cc5460ece90f90ebe36b56b20ba.

Subject: [PR ld/22263][PR ld/25694] RISC-V: Avoid dynamic TLS relocs in PIE.
X-Git-Url: https://sourceware.org/git/?p=binutils-gdb.git;a=commitdiff_plain;h=225df051d3d4cf714d1791b9035966a6686b3f3d;hp=a70d5ba34cb64bbbb7df4f3055cf5b1967bdf61e
[PR ld/22263][PR ld/25694] RISC-V: Avoid dynamic TLS relocs in PIE.
Lots of targets already fixed the TEXTREL problem for TLS in PIE.
* For PR ld/25694,
In the check_reloc, refer to spare and loongarch, they don't need to reserve
any local dynamic reloc for TLS LE in pie/pde, and similar to other targets.
So it seems like riscv was too conservative to estimate the TLS LE before.
Just break and don't goto static_reloc for TLS LE in pie/pde can fix the
TEXTREL problem.
* For PR ld/22263,
The risc-v code for TLS GD/IE in the relocate_section seems same as MIPS port.
So similar to MIPS, pr22570, commits 9143e72c6d4d and 1cb83cac9a89, it seems
also the right way to do the same thing for risc-v.
On risc-v, fixes
FAIL: Build pr22263-1
RISC-V haven't supported the TLS transitions, so will need the same fix (use
bfd_link_dll) in the future.
bfd/
PR ld/22263
PR ld/25694
* elfnn-riscv.c (riscv_elf_check_relocs): Replace bfd_link_pic with
bfd_link_dll for TLS IE. Don't need to reserve the local dynamic
relocation for TLS LE in pie/pde, and report error in pic just like
before.
(riscv_elf_relocate_section): For TLS GD/IE, use bfd_link_dll rather
than !bfd_link_pic in determining the dynamic symbol index. Avoid
the index of -1.

Subject: [PR ld/22263][PR ld/25694] RISC-V: Avoid dynamic TLS relocs in PIE.
X-Git-Url: https://sourceware.org/git/?p=binutils-gdb.git;a=commitdiff_plain;h=225df051d3d4cf714d1791b9035966a6686b3f3d;hp=a70d5ba34cb64bbbb7df4f3055cf5b1967bdf61e
[PR ld/22263][PR ld/25694] RISC-V: Avoid dynamic TLS relocs in PIE.
Lots of targets already fixed the TEXTREL problem for TLS in PIE.
* For PR ld/25694,
In the check_reloc, refer to spare and loongarch, they don't need to reserve
any local dynamic reloc for TLS LE in pie/pde, and similar to other targets.
So it seems like riscv was too conservative to estimate the TLS LE before.
Just break and don't goto static_reloc for TLS LE in pie/pde can fix the
TEXTREL problem.
* For PR ld/22263,
The risc-v code for TLS GD/IE in the relocate_section seems same as MIPS port.
So similar to MIPS, pr22570, commits 9143e72c6d4d and 1cb83cac9a89, it seems
also the right way to do the same thing for risc-v.
On risc-v, fixes
FAIL: Build pr22263-1
RISC-V haven't supported the TLS transitions, so will need the same fix (use
bfd_link_dll) in the future.
bfd/
PR ld/22263
PR ld/25694
* elfnn-riscv.c (riscv_elf_check_relocs): Replace bfd_link_pic with
bfd_link_dll for TLS IE. Don't need to reserve the local dynamic
relocation for TLS LE in pie/pde, and report error in pic just like
before.
(riscv_elf_relocate_section): For TLS GD/IE, use bfd_link_dll rather
than !bfd_link_pic in determining the dynamic symbol index. Avoid
the index of -1.

Subject: [PR ld/22263][PR ld/25694] RISC-V: Avoid dynamic TLS relocs in PIE.
X-Git-Url: https://sourceware.org/git/?p=binutils-gdb.git;a=commitdiff_plain;h=225df051d3d4cf714d1791b9035966a6686b3f3d;hp=a70d5ba34cb64bbbb7df4f3055cf5b1967bdf61e
[PR ld/22263][PR ld/25694] RISC-V: Avoid dynamic TLS relocs in PIE.
Lots of targets already fixed the TEXTREL problem for TLS in PIE.
* For PR ld/25694,
In the check_reloc, refer to spare and loongarch, they don't need to reserve
any local dynamic reloc for TLS LE in pie/pde, and similar to other targets.
So it seems like riscv was too conservative to estimate the TLS LE before.
Just break and don't goto static_reloc for TLS LE in pie/pde can fix the
TEXTREL problem.
* For PR ld/22263,
The risc-v code for TLS GD/IE in the relocate_section seems same as MIPS port.
So similar to MIPS, pr22570, commits 9143e72c6d4d and 1cb83cac9a89, it seems
also the right way to do the same thing for risc-v.
On risc-v, fixes
FAIL: Build pr22263-1
RISC-V haven't supported the TLS transitions, so will need the same fix (use
bfd_link_dll) in the future.
bfd/
PR ld/22263
PR ld/25694
* elfnn-riscv.c (riscv_elf_check_relocs): Replace bfd_link_pic with
bfd_link_dll for TLS IE. Don't need to reserve the local dynamic
relocation for TLS LE in pie/pde, and report error in pic just like
before.
(riscv_elf_relocate_section): For TLS GD/IE, use bfd_link_dll rather
than !bfd_link_pic in determining the dynamic symbol index. Avoid
the index of -1.

* For PR ld/25694,
In the check_reloc, refer to spare and loongarch, they don't need to reserve
any local dynamic reloc for TLS LE in pie/pde, and similar to other targets.
So it seems like riscv was too conservative to estimate the TLS LE before.
Just break and don't goto static_reloc for TLS LE in pie/pde can fix the
TEXTREL problem.
* For PR ld/22263,
The risc-v code for TLS GD/IE in the relocate_section seems same as MIPS port.
So similar to MIPS, pr22570, commits 9143e72c6d4d and 1cb83cac9a89, it seems
also the right way to do the same thing for risc-v.
On risc-v, fixes
FAIL: Build pr22263-1
RISC-V haven't supported the TLS transitions, so will need the same fix (use
bfd_link_dll) in the future.
bfd/
PR ld/22263
PR ld/25694
* elfnn-riscv.c (riscv_elf_check_relocs): Replace bfd_link_pic with
bfd_link_dll for TLS IE. Don't need to reserve the local dynamic
relocation for TLS LE in pie/pde, and report error in pic just like
before.
(riscv_elf_relocate_section): For TLS GD/IE, use bfd_link_dll rather
than !bfd_link_pic in determining the dynamic symbol index. Avoid
the index of -1.

# Usually the crossdirect approach works; however, when passing

# for some reason. We probably need to adjust rustc's
# librustc_metadata/locator.rs or something (and upstream that
# change!), but I've spent enough time on this already. Let's simply
# fall back to compiling in qemu in the very few cases where this is
